General Information:
State route 36 is a short arterial route serving mostly residential areas in Perth's southeast. It's a mix of single and dual carriageway standard.
History:
- 1907: Horticulturalist, Mr Oscar Lauterbach, started a personal project to beautify the road reserve on Fremantle Road from Albany Highway
through to Hicks Street. His property straddled this area. He did this to commemorate the creation of the
Gosnells Road Board. He planted six Moreton Bay fig trees, plus some gum trees. 1
- 1970s: Fremantle Rd upgraded to dual carriageway. 1
- June 2005: Railway overpass at Thornlie opened to traffic. 2
