General Information:

Metropolitan Route 83 is an arterial route connecting the inner eastern suburbs of Melbourne with the western suburbs. It passes through some of Melbourne's oldest inner suburbs.

Some of the route was part of National Route 1, which travelled continuously around Australia. MR83 was truncated with the opening of Eastlink, with MR83 being replaced with M3 along the Eastern Freeway as well as being implemented on Eastlink.
