General Information:
The highway is named after Lewis Hubert (Harold Bell) Lasseter, who claimed to have discovered a fabulously rich gold reef (Lasseter's Reef) west of Kata Tjuta. The route forms a road link known as the 'Outback Way' or 'Outback Highway' linking Laverton in Western Australia with Winton in South-West Queensland, via Alice Springs and Ulura/Kata Tjuta National Park in the Northern Territory. 1
History:
- December 2001: Introduction of a 110 km/h speed limit on the Lasseter Highway from the Stuart Highway to Yulara. 2
- 2005: Route widened to 8 metres and sealed in Yulara area. 1
- 2007: Upgrade the Lasseter Highway-Yulara Drive
